This Conference would highlight Common services centres commitment to affordable, reliable and modern menstrual pads for women in rural India. Around 15 Sanitary pad Napkin units are presently active across various parts of the Country. Sone of the VLEs who started these MMU units would share there experience of starting this service in their villages.
Lack of scientific understanding about menstruation, rampant myths and misconceptions, and limited or no access to hygienic menstrual products are some of the biggest problems crippling the women in rural India. While many studies and reports have brought to light the woes of women when it comes to menstruation, there have been fewer efforts to create awareness and provide access to sanitary products.
Lack of access to menstrual products impacts millions of girls across India. Many of them miss school because of it, thereby increasing the likelihood of dropping out, earlier marriage and pregnancy as well as limiting career options. Traditional practices around menstruation in rural India are unhygenics and limits women exploring their full potential.
The aim of the CSC Project Stree Swabhiman is to educate Rural Girls & provide Eco-Friendly Sanitary Napkins that is safer, Cheaper and smarter.
