UTS on mobile app is an Indian Railways official android mobile ticketing app to book unreserved train tickets.

Government of India encourages people to move towards a Cashless Economy. This can be achieved by use of debit, credit cards, electronic payment gateway systems such Immediate Payment Service (IMPS), National Electronic Fund Transfer (NEFT) , and Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) in India.

Indian Railways offers cashless ticketing option to its customer through internet ticketing on IRCTC website for booking reserved tickets. More than 58% of the train accommodation is reserved through e-ticketing.

IRCTC also provides option for purchasing Season Tickets for suburban train services on Western and Central Railways. Facility for purchasing unreserved tickets through mobile phone is available at DELHI, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Secunderabad. Further Automatic Ticket Vending Machines dispensing unreserved tickets using smart cards are provided at over 1000 locations over CR, ER, ECoR, NR, NER, NWR, SR, SCR, SER, SECR, SWR, WR and WCR. The Smart Cards can be purchased from nominated counters at the stations.

In order to promote paperless economy, Indian Railways has launched its new UTS on mobile application. This official android mobile ticketing app enables booking unreserved paperless journey ticket, issue/renew season ticket and platform ticket. The app has introduced two modes of booking mobile tickets-Paper Ticket and Paperless Ticket.

Paperless ticket has been enabled in entire Chennai suburban section, entire Mumbai suburban section and New Delhi – Palwal section, in continuation of Paperless ticket now Season and Platform Tickets are introduced. In addition to that, now ‘Change Handset’ feature is introduced which is used to Change passenger old handset to new one, and active Season Ticket will transferred from old handset to new one.

Using ‘show ticket’ feature the ticket can be showed to the TTE(Travelling Ticket Examiner) or TC. Off-line mode is available to show the paperless ticket if Internet connection not available in the mobile.
